Just returned from the most recent road trip fishing and filming shows for season 10 of Extreme Angler TV across north eastern Ontario. Although the water temps we`re low for this time of year (mid to high 60`s) which in turn delayed the spawn and bigger fish into "eat mode", I fished hard for 4 days including the travel time between lakes and regions thru eastern Ontario, Haliburton Highlands and the Muskokas. Fished for largemouth with Strike King rodents and game hawgs in scattered shallow brush and submerged timber for a decent limit the first day including two fish over 4 pounds. Did the dock jig n chunk thing the next day, but could only find smaller males in the "big fish locations" so shifted locations to sloping shorelines with shallow trees and got some decent bites and some lost fish to go with it.
On the next chapter of this road trip, I fished in the Muskoka region for smallmouth bass with Strike King pink Zero`s in ultra skinny water with long casts with an Ardent Fishouflage S2000 reel loaded with 10 pound fluorocarbon, Daiichi catch & release hook and St.Croix legend xtreme 6'6" medium action rod. Lost a few fish, but caught 14 nice fish including a few over the four pound range to put together a few info and action packed shows for next season.
Hope the sunny hot days warm up the water to mid-high 70`s this week so the big gals get on the feed bag just in time for my next road trip.
